words are the finger pointing at the moon: they have the effect of covering up the reality they’re meant to point at.
so it makes sense to talk around something, since stating it destroys a reality and replaces it with a string of sounds (or a tweet). better to leave the important things unsaid so they can linger on.
in the same way it can be truer to waffle 🧇 on a position or decision, instead of committing, as a way to express the pros and cons at the same time. this reminds me of Borges’ Garden of Forking Paths.
